In July 2015 we found a beautiful quinta in central portugal and decided, that this is from now on HOME. The quinta had (has still and i planted more…) fruit and olivetrees and about 1,5 Hectar vinyard was served for a lot of years from a really gentle nice family wich lives only a few kilometres away. They offered help and a lot of informations so we decided to culture from now on WINE.

When someone told me in beginning 2015 that i will be a real winemaker a year later… i would have give them a hug … NEVER… 😉 So life goes on and instead of a central heating for the house we decided to invest in the vineyard – last winter i really hated myself for this decision coming out of the shower…!

With a lot of assistance and workers and of course the great team of oenologists from Vines&Wines Viseu, we now have the first results.

The name for the vineyard is the name of my family in medieval times. So it is a real family-thing.

We also rented another part of vineyard (only the red grapes) in a little village nearby, in sum we have to culture now about 4 Hectars – a real garage wine!

After beeing involved in conventionell methods of winemaking, i decided to do the wine as pure as possible. I dont need to discuss about glyphosat, today everyone who is interested in eating and drinking great quality, knows about this really silly stuff!

To make wine also includes the questions of varieties of grapes you choose… we are in Portugal in the region of DAO so it should be something wich belongs to the place! We have Alfrucheiro, Tinto Roriz and of course the king of grapes Touriga Nacional, wich are so much more blue than i thought could be! With this grapes we started 2016. Later on we will decide if there should be also a part of white wine.
